On July19, 2019, the 2019 Common Law Adjudication Principles Conference—Cross-border Insolvency Practice in Shenzhen and Hong Kong Symposium was successfully held in Shenzhen Intermediate People's Court.
Keynote speaker the Hon Mr. Justice Harris, from the Court of First Instance of the High Court of Hong Kong, introduced the relevant provisions of Hong Kong law related to cross-border insolvency to the participants and then presented the cooperation between Mainland China and Hong Kong SAR in bankruptcy proceedings and his expectations in this regard.
Judge Zhang Yongjian, Deputy Chief Judge of the First Circuit Court of the Supreme People's Court of China (SPCC) and Head of the First International Commercial Court, spoke highly of this exchange event. He believed that the sharing of the Hon Mr. Justice Harris will help his counterparts in Mainland China to understand Hong Kong's experience in handling cross-border insolvency cases. This will not only facilitate exchanges between different jurisdictions under the "one country, two systems" policy, but also contribute to the consensus reached by Mainland China and Hong Kong on the judicial assistance in bankruptcy.
